Abstract: Trees subjected to drought-stress in the greenhouse following inoculation with inoculum produced from monoascospore cultures developed significantly (p = 0.001) more cankered branches than did inoculated, non-droughtstressed trees. Inoculation of drought-stressed and nondrought- stressed trees with inoculum produced from monoconidium cultures did not cause infection. No infection with either inoculum occurred in the absence of wounding.
