Performance of Two Cultivars of Red Maple from Tissue-Cultured Versus Budded Propagation    (View PDF)

Jeff L. Sibley, D. Joseph Eakes, Charles H. Gilliam, Gary J. Keever, and William A. Dozier, Jr.

Abstract: Franksred' and 'October Glory' red maple (Acer rubrum) from tissue culture were compared iri an existing field study to their budded counterparts to determine differences in annual growth rate, leaf morphology characteristics, leaf greenness, initiation of fall color, and gas exchange capacity. There were no differences between propagation methods for the two cultivars in height or caliper increases, fall color patterns, or gas exchange capacities.
